Tolkein fans please brace -

I have never enjoyed Lord of The Rings.

But I like the fact that he made up a great language.

Tolkein was a professor of linguistics. He loved Germanic and Finnish languages and from thirteen created some "fun languages"...

Then, boom.

The Tolkenian language is like this:

Try saying that.
Tolkein language can be used for texts like this, but tring to translate something like, say, the whole bible or Harry Potter, would be useless. The language is not advanced enough to handle the wide range of vocab and idioms.

And if you're looking to know the language, you're finished. Even Tolkein cannot speak the language -it was only his intention to entertain himself, not turn it into Latin for nerds.

But if you look for something that is simple and like English, here it is:

Newspeak.

Newspeak, Oceanian speak, oldspeak remade fullwise. Party make newspeak, remake newspeak, remake newspeak. Party use newspeak in Times, recs, papers, etc. Party req members use newspeak, speak newspeak, write newspeak, think newspeak. BB doubleplusreq members use newspeak. Party uncare proles. Proles speak oldspeak, duckspeak to newspeakers. Newspeakfuluse is ex of goodthink. Member use newspeak oft with party and BB.

Newspeakfulaim keep goodthink and undo crimethinks. Newspeakuse make plentfuler goodthinkers and unmake plentfuler crimethinkers. Newspeak unspeak crimethink. Crimethinkfulwrds unis newspeak or is malrep. Newspeak is speak pos unplentfulwrds (est. 400 wrds or unplenter)

Translation: Newspeak is from 1984's Oceania which is abbreviated from oldspeak (ie language used today) The party produces Newspeak. Newspeak is used in many places, and party members use it (different forms). BB recommends people to use newspeak. The party doesn't care about proles, and they speak oldspeak, which is duckspeak to newspeakers. Newspeak eradicates oldthink (ideas of freedom, democracy etc.)

Newspeak aims to keep loyalty to party, love for BB etc. and to stop Enlightenment ideas etc. Newspeak is short (less than 400 words, so no novels here)

George Orwell, the maker of this language, has in 1984's appendix a full review of the language.

This is the language that in every year, has less and less words. "Unnecessary" words, like splendid, great, wonderful are turned into good. To add emphasis, plus- and doubleplus- are added. To show disdain, un- is used.

But let's say you want to adapt the Communist Manifesto...

A spectre is haunting Europe—the spectre of Communism. All the Powers of old Europe have entered into a holy alliance to exorcise this spectre: Pope and Czar, Metternich and Guizot, French Radicals and German police-spies.

Eurasia bellyfeel ungoodthink - the (untranslatable) Fullwise (u.t.) of Eurasia enter group (I'm not an expert here :D) umake plentifuller oldthinkers (replaces everything) plus German thinkpol.

And the rest can be swallowed into:

CRIMETHINK!

Such is the nature of Newspeak. The most you can do is to speak it to break ice in parties. And show that you're cool...

...but imagine, in a parallel universe, where people are brainwashed into thinking party ideals...

Classroom Key Incident

Yesterday, Day 5, at about 10:50 a.m, the G8D classroom key was found to be missing. The key remained unfound until today morning, when one of the class's students, Ricci Sun Wai Chuen, handed the key over to our Class Captain, claiming that he had found it in his drawer when he arrived at school.

He also insisted that he was not the culprit, and stressed that he "would not be the kind of person who would do it."According to the Class Captain, Sun had said that "I had found it in my drawer when I first arrived in the classroom ....[but] I wasn't the culprit, so don't think that I had done it, you know that I am not the kind of person who would do such a thing."

It is widely believed that the key was stolen, and this opinion is held by the general public of the class and the Class Captain also. The identity of the culprit, however, is still in question. Ms. C.A. Chiu, the Form Teacher, made efforts to find out the culprit at lunchtime and report this case to the Discipline Masters. She also asked the person who had stolen the key to own up." [translated from Chinese] The class's key is a very important object," Ms. Chiu said. " Don't think that you can play with it. This is no ordinary incident, and I will continue to investigate in this case. If I find the culprit, I will punish him severely and report him to the Discipline Masters."

How they key ended up in Sun's drawer remains a mystery. However, Ms. Chiu believes that Sun did not steal the key."It must have been some other student who stole the key and put it in that classmate's [Sun's]drawer. It couldn't have been that classmate because whoever who stole the key must have kept it for himself and not hand the key back."It is not known how many students support this belief.

However, some students of G8D spectulate that the person who committed this act was none other than Sun himself, and that he had tried to cover up the theft by handing over the key. No evidence of this exists, but it is also largely possible, especially the way which Sun speaks about this incident. The DDR Euphoria party also refuses to support any one of these two sides."There is no sufficient evidence yet," Matthew Lung, the President of the DDR said today in a conference. "We shall remain neutral in this War of the Key until there is enough proof to condemn Sun."
